How sounds are classified on bruitages.tv ?
There 2 major famillies of sound files on bruitages.tv : sound effects and production elements. In the sound effects family you can find all the sounds, ambiences, foley of the real or imaginary world and are classified at 2 levels : category (animal, train, city, home, ...) and subcategory (farm animal, wild animal, pets, bird, ...). In the production elements family you can find all the sounds, musical or not, needed to sound design. They are classified according to category (sweeper, whoosh, drone, ...).
How can I found sound effects and production elements on bruitages.tv ?
There are 2 ways. 1) By using one of the two menus on the left side "Sound Effects" or "Production Elements", you can choose a category of sounds (animal, train, whoosh...) and then choose a subcategory (farm animal, pets, birds...) to access to all the sound effects or production elements of this subcategory. 2) By using the search engine on the left side "Search", just type a word or expression to access to all the sound files linked to your search. Several pages can be available.
How sound effects are displayed on bruitages.tv ?
The search engine results or clicking on a subcatogory will give you access to a list of sounds showing for each sound a picture of the object or the place (for quick search), a player (the green triangle) to listen the preview of the sound, duration, title, description and sample rate of the sound, the price and the « add to cart » button. By clicking on the image or the descrition of the sound, you will access to the product page where you can see, in addition, a picture of the wavform of the sound.
What is the audio format of the sound effects and production elements ?
All the audio files available after payment are in stereo WAV (BWF) format and are available in various sample rates according to each sound effect : 16bit/48kHz ; 24bit/48kHz ; 24bit/96kHz. The sample rate is noticed within the description of the sound effects and production elements. The previews you can hear on the site present the whole duration of the sound effects. These previews are in MP3-192kbps format with a voice jingle "bruitages.tv" added. This voice is not recorded on the final sound.
What is BWF format ? What do I need to play this sound ?
The Broadcast Wave Format can be play with any wave player as it is a wave format extension. BWF does not require a special player for playback. Bwf is the recording format of most file-based non-linear digital recorders used for motion picture, radio and television production. The purpose of this file format is the addition of metadata to facilitate the seamless exchange of sound data between different computer platforms and software applications. This metadata is stored as extension chunks in a standard digital audio WAV file. In addition to the ID data, the original BEXT section has been filled for each sound : title, description, origine and sample rate.
Multitracks recording MT-XXXX, what does it mean ?
You can see on various pictures this small and read in the description of the according sound effect : multitrack recording MT-XXXX (ex: MT-JHW01). Multitracks recording is a technique that records a variety of sound effects simultaneously from différent perspectives. Some car pull away sound effects are for example recorded at the same time from inside and outside. Then, you can easily switch from an interior sound to an exterior sound. To find the takes related to a sound effect, you need to find the sound effects sharing the same MT-XXXX code. For that you just have to click on this code in the tags associated to the sound effect.

No, all the sound effects and production elements available on this site are produced and owned by Bruitages.tv. Bruitages.tv remains the unique owner of these products even after sale but offers you a end user licence as describe in this document.
